Sunbrella’s inaugural partnership with CW Stockwell, The JOY Collection, combines CW Stockwell’s rich, 115-year history and pattern archive with Sunbrella’s expertise in performance fabrics to put forth a joyful collection of fabrics.
The essence of this collection is playful, creating comfortable luxury that lasts. Woven in the USA using our trademarked solution-dyed acrylic yarns, this collection is exceptionally durable, yet is exceptionally soft and comfortable. Plus, our built-in UV stability ensures the longevity of your favorite saturated patterns from CW Stockwell. As always, our proprietary finish helps the fabric resist stains, water, and the elements.
The JOY collection is made up of four of CW Stockwell’s most popular patterns: Jules, Martinique®, Cabana and Martinique® Encore. They comprise a bright, optimistic palette that brings together a mix of bold and textural scales to create an approachable collection that mixes and matches itself.

Martinique®
As a brand known for creating and producing one of the most recognizable patterns of all time, CW Stockwell knew that the first ever collection of performance fabrics had to start with Martinique®, their iconic banana leaf pattern designed in 1942 — which they have been hand printing for fabrics and wallpapers in Los Angeles continuously since then. Given its tropical point of view and charismatic appeal, Martinique® was meant for indoor/outdoor living.
The Cabana pattern easily mixes and matches with other patterns in the collection.
Cabana
An organic, hand-drawn stripe inspired by an antique swatch purchased in 1930s Japan by CW Stockwell’s second generation owners. The original was a metallic gold print, executed on the most delicate of rice papers. Tucked away in a small folder of travel ephemera for almost one hundred years, this pattern definitely was ready to see the light of day. This is a textural treat that is just as impactful on its own as when it is paired with the larger scale of Martinique® and Martinique® Encore.

Jules
One of CW Stockwell’s most popular small-scale prints was originally designed by the CWS team in 1942. Its soft geometric simplicity makes it easy to pair with just about anything, making it the best mixer. In this newest iteration, flip the fabric over and the colors invert to create yet another covetable combination. Good luck charms feature clovers and diamonds. This print is hand-drawn and striving for imperfection.
