Does Sunbrella hold up differently in fresh water rather than salt water?

Sunbrella shade and marine fabrics are highly water repellent and are virtually unaffected by fresh or salt water. Our fabrics will hold up to life on the water, whether it’s the beach or the lake. The main difference is that as salt water dries on the fabric, it can leave behind a salt residue, and you should rinse the fabric with clean water to get rid of it. Aside from that there should be no adverse impact from either salt or fresh water.

How to clean salt residue from Sunbrella marine fabrics:

  1. Wet fabric with soapy water and let sit for 15 minutes.
  2. Lightly agitate with a soft bristled brush.
  3. Rinse well.
  4. Air Dry.
